IBS organizes “Mock Placement” at L D College of Engineering

Mock Placement Activity was organized by L D college of Engineering at Ahmedabad on 4, 5& 6th April 2013. IBS conducted sessions on Dos and Dont’s in GD & PI at Seminar hall in LD College of Engineering.

Prof. Prashant Saxena & Prof. Dhwanika Ahya delivered lectures on “Dos & Dont’s in GD PI”. Prof. Prashant Saxena is Associate Dean at IBS Ahmedabad & he has specialized in HR. Prof. Dhwanika Ahya is Full time faculty at IBS Ahmedabad.

IBS Team at Maharaja Sayajirao University

The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda is rated among the top universities of India. It is a teaching and residential university and only university in Gujarat whose medium of Instruction is English for all courses.

IBS team decided to encourage students by wishing them for their exams by putting ‘All the Best’ Message Signs in the University Premises.

IBS organizes seminar at Alpine College of Management & Technology

IBS organized a Seminar/workshop on Effective Communication Skills & Positive Attitute at Alpine Institute.
The seminar was attended by students from various backgrounds like BBA,BCA, HM, BA, Bsc.IT & Aeronautical Engineering.
The response of students was very positive and even the faculty members who attended the seminar were very delighted by the topics.

The topics were dealt by IBS Gurgaon Faculty Mr. Sanjeev Malvia & Prof. Raghvendra Sharma.

IBS Ahmedabad organizes “MANTHAN”

IBS Ahmedabad provides that platform for the management students by organizing “MANTHAN”, The Business Plan Competition at the campus.

Business Plan competitions allow students to gain experience not only as competitors for a prize, but also in working together as a team, public speaking, strategy, planning ahead and making contacts.

After two elimination rounds, top five plans out of eleven were selected for the final event. Students were required to present their plans in front of the panel of Judges.

Business Plans were analysed considering the Innovation, Creativity, Feasibility, Scope and Budgeting.

IBS organizes Faculty Development Program at Indore

IBS organized Faculty Development Program at Indore.The event was organized by IBS Indore Branch on 19th -Feb -2013 at Hotel Amar-Villas, Indore (M.P).

Faculty from renowned Engineering & Graduate colleges of Indore participated in the event and witnessed a total participation of 53 faculty members from 25 Colleges.

The guests of honor for the event were Dr. Vivek ranga (Dean& Campus Head- IBS Ahmedabad), Prof. Pankaj Madhani (Senior Faculty- IBS Ahmedabad) & Mr. Harshal Bhagwat (Regional Manager).

The opening remarks were address by Regional Manager Mr. Harshal Bhagwat on the “New Teaching Techniques in Present Scenario” the further dialogue on the subject was taken up by Dr.Vivek Ranga & Prof. Pankaj Madhani.
Session Started at 10am with Introduction & Expectation Setting followed, which set the tone of the entire event and later on following topics were covered:

• The Changing Role of Faculty
• Beyond Classroom & Managing Students Expectation
• Teaching Tools
• Professional Development
The Program was a success & was well received and appreciated by all the faculty members.

IBS organizes seminar at YMCA, New Delhi

IBS organized a Seminar at YMCA, New Delhi to highlight the important points of GD/PI, to share the details about IBS Campuses and to solve any queries related to admission process.

The first session started with Mr. Brijesh Arora, Area Manager, describing the different aspects of a GD session. He highlighted the points to be noticed during any GD commencement. The talk was followed by a mock GD session.

The second session was addressed by Mr. Jatin Tandon, Regional Manager. He showed the various campus placements details till date and explained the significance of choosing any of IBS campuses highlighting the faculty strength across all IBS campuses. Along with that he solved some queries also about PG facilities nearby asserting that it’s available near all IBS campuses.

The session was followed by Queries session in which Dr. Vikram Sharma, Faculty IBS Gurgaon, answered all the queries related to admission process.

IBS organizes seminar at Kirori Mal College , New Delhi

IBS conducted an activity based Seminar at Kirori Mal College (KMC) on April 8, 2013.

The topic for the seminar was “Learning Behaviors by Experiential Excercises”.
The speaker for the session was Dr. Anupama Dullo Raina , Faculty and Placement Co-ordinator ,IBS Gurgaon.

She showed the students the real importance of Team-work. The session was interactive and participative as it was based on real life situations, activities to help visualize them instantly and the importance of working as a team.

The students were divided in 4 teams and given some task and by the result of the task performed, Dr. Anupama started her talk on the topic. Thus, all the students were familiarized with the topic instantly.
Going forward, the students were made to act as if they were in an interview and had to show the best of their team work abilities.

IBS Organizes seminar at Sri Venkateswara College, New Delhi

The seminar was organized on 8th April at Sri Venkateswara College, New Delhi. Prof Jean Saldanha (Faculty – IBS Gurgaon) was invited to have an interactive session with the students.

Prof. Saldanha made use of different mediums (such as ppt, video, activities etc) to make the session very participative.
The students were pleased after the session as they got to learn many things regarding effective communication in a very interesting manner.

Faculty Development Program held at IBS Mumbai

A Faculty Development Programme on “Innovative Teaching Methods” was organised on February 28, 2013, at IBS Business School, Mumbai for teachers of degree colleges.

The one-day programme included sessions on Teaching through the Case Study Method, Experiential Learning and Technology in Teaching.

In his keynote address Prof Y. K. Bhushan, Senior Advisor and Head, IBS Business School, Mumbai, reminded the academicians on the joy of teaching and the need to innovate in the classroom.

Dr. G.C. Nag, a senior Faculty Member at IBS-M, gave an introduction to the Case Study Method of Teaching, followed by an engaging demonstration of the Case Study Discussion by Dr Samta Jain.
Prof Rita Rangnekar conducted a team-building and survival exercise to drive home the impact of experiential learning and simulation and assert the role of the teacher as a facilitator in the learning cycle.
Prof. Kavita Venkatachari discussed and oriented the academicians present on new technological resources and support systems available to teachers to enhance teaching effectiveness and encourage creativity.

Sessionwise description

Session One – Teaching through the Case Study Method – Dr. G. C. Nag In an overview to the the case study method of teaching, Dr.G.C.Nag, Faculty Member IBS M, spoke of the inception of the case study, the preparation needed to manage a case study discussion, the infrastructure, administration and evaluation pattern while using a case study.

Session Two – Teaching through the Case Study Method – Dr. Samta Jain Dr Samta Jain, demonstrated how a case discussion can be made interesting and different, for an optimum learning outcome through the use of innovative techniques and different audio-visual tools.

Session Three-Experiential Learning – Prof Rita Rangnekar Prof Rita Rangnekar, illustrated the role of the teacher as a facilitator in guiding students through the experiential learning cycle to gather their own information and data, analyze and learn from it, through a team-building exercise depicting a survival scenario.

Session Four – Technology in Teaching- Prof Kavita Venkatachari Prof Kavita Venkatachari encapsulated how the latest technology can be used by academicians to bring a teacher’s creative into play, through the application of cloud technology, conducting online education, and the use of the electronic whiteboard to solve teaching problems. She provided information of various links, websites and learning support systems.

IBS Mumbai organizes mock GD/PI

The mock Group discussion and Personal Interview was organized on Saturday, 6th April, 2013 at IBS Campus, Mumbai. All CAT CMAT and Management Students were invited to participate in Mock Group discussion and Personal Interview. Total 150 students had participated.

Prof. Prema R and Prof Prakash Pandit was the faculty to conduct the sessions in two different class rooms.
Various skills ranging from Communication, Management skills, need of Management Education were discussed in the Group discussion.
Topics discussed were not only discussed as a topic but was informative and knowledgeable.
Next, the topic for discussion was on Personal Interview. In this it was again briefed what in a short time given how effectively it could be used and how one should broadly present one’s productivity being an asset to the company.

Finally some good tips on GD & PI were informative the event ended with a vote of thanks to one and all who participated and to the invitees for giving us their valuable time in this short notice.
